Power boosting exo-suit!
so when i saw/read this, i was like… WHOA! Exo squad (or appleseed’s landmates or alien’s fork lift, or any power boosting exo suit you wanna reference) is here! all they need to do is add a jetpack, couple of gun and there you go!…
well actually this little contraption was designed and created for japans aging farmers, to help them with power to carry things, pull things out of the ground and all around be stronger.
the suit relies on many many MANY sensors and enhances strenth by controlling movement of 8 different motors that provide support to the shoulders, knees, arms and legs. To the wearer, heavy objects seem as light as 22 Lbs (10 kilograms). The suit not only helps lift things but it helps with endurance, like when you prune trees, it helps you keep your arms up.
At the unveiling on January 9, 25-year-old graduate student Ryosuku Tanaka demonstrated the suit by lifting and carrying 44-lb (20-kilogram) bags of rice. “I hardly feel the weight,” said Tanaka. “It’s as if I had powerful muscles.”
The developers hope to make the suit commercially available in 4 years, at a price of $4,500 to $9,000 (500,000 to 1 million yen) each.
i wonder if it makes you jump any higher or run faster?
