Want some “Chocolate”?

This film is probably one of the most anticipated Thai martial arts film since Tony Jaa kicked and elbowed his way on to the screen in “Ong Bak”. “Chocolate” is actually directed by the same man who directed Tony Jaa’s break out film Prachya Pinkaew. But instead of some high flying male lead we get the young lovely and incredibly talented new female star Nicharee “Jeeja” Vismistananda.
Here’s the synopsis from Twitchfilm.net
‘Chocolate’ stars newcomer Nicharee “Jeeja” Vismistananda as an autistic girl who learns how to fight both by absorbing her martial arts skills from what she sees on TV and from the Muay thai boxing school next to her home. When she finds a list of debtors in her sick mother’s diary, she decides to go collecting. Her quest leads her to confrontations with criminal gangs and also her father, a member of the Japanese mafia.
So the story seems a bit silly, but I don’t watch martial arts films for the story. I watch martial arts films for the bone breaking fight scenes! And the trailer for the movie promises some amazing fight choreography and some really painful looking stunt work. Interestingly enough the trailer also shows some outtakes of stunts going wrong and the leading lady and some stunt men bandaged up, on stretchers and even wearing a neck brace!! That just goes to show how much effort these men and women are willing to give just to entertain. “Chocolate” is set for a February 2008 release date.
