Japanese Teenage Pitcher Eri Yoshida Coached By Baseball Idol
Eri Yoshida, the Japanese teenage female knuckle baller who pitched for an independent league in Arizona, recently worked out with her baseball idol Tim Wakefield of the Boston Red Sox during Red Sox training camp. Yoshida actually learned how to pitch the knuckle ball by watching videos of Tim Wakefield throw his signature pitch.
And it seems Wakefield see’s a lot of potential in the young 18-year old pitcher.
Here’s a brief video of Eri Yoshida meeting and working with Tim Wakefield.
This bodes well for Eri because learning a pitch like the knuckle ball actually gives her a pretty good chance to possibly enter the minor leagues and perhaps have a small chance at cracking the majors. Knuckle ball pitchers are more about finesse and technique rather than relying on pure physical strength like fastball pitchers do.
So good luck to Eri Yoshida and I hope she finds even more success in baseball on this side of the ocean!
