Jennie Kwan, California Dreams reunite on Jimmy Fallon show
Talk about a blast from the past! I was born in the 80’s so most of my teen years were spent in the 90’s. And back then we had something called TNBC which simply was an acronym for Teen NBC. It was basically teen oriented sitcoms that played alongside normal Saturday morning cartoons.
The main draw of TNBC was Saved By The Bell. But right after that show was a little show called California Dreams. It was essentially the same show as Save By The Bell, but the gimmick was that they were all in a band. But what was also super cool about the show was that it starred an Asian American female, the beautiful and talented Jennie Kwan, in a lead role. Okay, so she actually played a foreign exchange student from Hong Kong, but it was still really cool to see an Asian face who wasn’t in the back ground. In fact, she was front and center as the lead singer for the California Dreams!
So when Jimmy Fallon failed to get the cast of Saved By The Bell to reunite on his show (a year long endeavor during his first year) he did the next best thing and had the key cast members of California Dreams reunite instead! And they even sung their own theme song (which they actually originally sung themselves all those years ago). So check out the video and let the wave of 90’s nostalgia wash over you!

I used to watch that show because of Jenny Kwan’s character. I remember the episode with the fortune cookie without a fortune!
