Funimation to release classic Shaw Bros. films

North American video distributor Funimation, known for their extensive Japanese anime releases, is now in the old school martial arts business. They are going to release several classic films from the world famous Shaw Brothers Studios. The Shaw Bros. were probably the most popular Hong Kong movie studio during the late 60’s and early 70’s and were known primarily for their period martial arts films. This is fantastic news for old school martial arts fans who live in North America. The Shaw Bros. films have been remastered on dvd, but have only been available as region coded Hong Kong imports. A small number of Shaw Bros. classics have already been released in North America through Dragon Dynasy and Tokyo Shock so Funimation’s releases are very much welcome and appreciated.
