Se Ri Pak, Jiyai Shin in Best of the Decade LPGA players list
It’s that time of the decade where lists of the “Best of the decade” start popping up and Yahoo sports already has a jump on everyone else. In their “Best of the decade: The best LPGA players of the 2000s” list two South Korean golfers made the list.
World Golf Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak placed fourth and up-and-coming golfer Jiyai Shin placed seventh. Interesting to note that both golfers represent the growing Asian presence in women’s golf, especially from South Korea. When Se Ri Pak first entered the LPGA in 1998 she was the only South Korean golfer on the tour. Ten years later she was one of 45 Koreans. Jiyai Shin represents the younger generation of Korean golfers entering the tour and her star is steadily rising with six tournament wins in the last two years and ending her first LPGA season ranked number one.
