Tadanobu Asano lands role in upcoming THOR film
Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano has been cast as Hogun the Grim in Marvel’s upcoming live action comic book film THOR which is being directed by Kenneth Branagh. Tadanobu Asano joins Ray Stevenson who will play Volstagg and Stuart Townsend who will play Fandral. In the Marvel Universe Hogun the Grim, Volstagg and Fandral form the Warriors Three who are loyal friends of Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) and who sometimes aid in his adventures. Asano already has extensive experience when it comes to costumed action epics having played the lead role of Genghis Khan in MONGOL so he actually fits the part of Hogun the Grim pretty well as far as I’m concerned.
Tadanobu Asano joins an ever growing list of actors from Asia being cast in high profile high budget movies. That list includes Japanese actor Ken Watanabe (Batman Begins), Korean model turned actor Daniel Henney (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Taiwanese singer/songwriter Jay Chou (upcoming Green Hornet film).
