Hideki Matsui has become the first Japanese baseball player to ever be named World Series MVP in Major League Baseball. Even though Matsui has always been in the shadow of fellow countryman Ichiro Suzuki, both here and in Japan, Matsui did what Ichiro could not do for the Seattle Mariners in actually helping win a World Series title for the New York Yankees.
Whether or not his excellent performance in the post-season will make the Yankees sign him for another year remains to be seen. But for right now Hideki Matsui currently personifies the best in Major League Baseball.
And for that we salute you Hideki Matsui! Congratulations on a job well done!
