John Woo to make live action version of ‘Stranglehold’ UPDATED

John Woo is developing a live action version of the video game ‘Stranglehold’. The video game is actually the sequel to John Woo’s Hard Boiled, considered one of the greatest action movies ever made. So the live action ‘Stranglehold’ will be the first true film sequel to the classic Hong Kong action film. Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio are writing the adaption of the game which some suspect will mean that the film will be in English and not Cantonese. But few people remember that the script for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was originally written in English and then translated to Mandarin. No word yet on whether Chow Yun-Fat will be back to reprise his role of Tequila like he did in the ‘Stranglehold’ video game.
UPDATE
The word from kfccinema.com is that Hong Kong actor/director Stephen Fung is in negotiations to direct the English language adaptation of ‘Stranglehold’.
