Papercraft War: Shin Tanaka v.s. PHIL
![]()
I have been subscribing to Italian paper crafter PHIL’s email updates of his latest work for a quit a bit. He has 300+ subscribers, and he doesn’t care to hide who’s subscribing. Yes, he cces everyone, not bcc. I see guys from Nike, Tokidoki, MTV, etc,,, subscribing to his updates.
A battle between him and the Japanese paper crafter Shin Tanaka has started with this one email Shin sent to all PHIL’s subscribers.
PHIL….
Why you always steal my ideas….
I’m disappointed in you.

Don’t to be imitation, to be original.**************************

It is undeniable that those two works are very similar in idea, and Shin created this first. Here’s my view to this battle, PHIL shouldn’t have disclosed his subscribers, and Shin shouldn’t have fought back to Phil like a teenager and sended mass email to his fans, which is pretty dirty way to fight.
Here’s Phil’s response to Shin Tanaka’s email.
Salve a tutti,
ENG: This is the mail that some of you have already received from Shin Tanaka, he has used all my contacts to send the same mail to all !!! I’m realy sorry, I make my apologies to all
I have already done to respond with an e-mail that I published on my space ( www.myspace.com/philtoys). I invite you to read. Thanx

All is solved and there is no battle. Just a simple misunderstanding and a click on reply to all instead of reply.
Don’t start something that is nothing.

fantastic response by Phil … true gentleman …
If only all artist / designers and the like took the same stance on supporting each other as opposed to trying to be the one which is on top …
Keep on keepin on mate …
