About a month ago I blogged about some new images from the new CGI Gatchaman movie.  You can read the article here:

Now a new very brief teaser trailer is now online showing those static CGI images in motion.  When I first saw it the first thing that came to mind was the live action Speed Racer movie.  Both have a very colorful look keeping with it’s animation origins.  Hopefully this won’t suffer from the utter confusion most movie goers had with Speed Racer and it’s somewhat uncomfortable mix of live action and extensive CGI.  As far as I know the new Gatchaman movie is all CGI.  But the main question is whether or not this CGI film can be a financial success here in the US without the word Pixar or Disney attached to it.  And while anime might have a very vocal and enthusiastic fan base here in the US, most  US theatrically released anime usually do pretty bad at the US box office.  Perhaps an all CGI anime can make a dent at the US box office.
