Anime Expo 2008 report 1
Anime Expo 2008 was held in the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA from July 4th to July 6th.
Anime Expo is one of the largest Anime convention in America, and in the world. This year had an expected 43,000 unique attendees turnout. The Expo provides many activities including, contests, panels, entertainment, and offers many things for attendees to purchase.
In terms of venue size, this year’s Anime Expo at Los Angeles Convention Center must be 10 times bigger than last year’s Anime Expo at Long Beach Convention Center. I kinda liked last year’s Anime Expo better because it felt more like “cosplay festival”, since the venue was smaller and you could see cosplayers dancing, singing, and bonding everywhere you go to.
I need to note that Badge pickup for preregistered people was incredible. Last year, we needed to pick up press pass a day before and had to wait for 2 hours to get a badge. This year, they used a barcode recognition system, which you can go, and scan the code with no line and I had my badge in less than 1 minutes. That was pretty impressive.
This year I saw less NARUTO cosplayers than last year, but still Naruto was the most popular cosplay among cosplayers, I think.
BLEACH, Ouran High School Host Club, DEATH NOTE, GUNDAM, The Melancholy of Harhui Suzumiya cosplays were continued to be a popular ones from last year.
We saw a lot more game characters,
hollywood movie character (that’s ironman… my shaky hands,,,)
, and some rondom character cosplayers that I can never guess what it was.
