The Dancing Inmates of CPDRC in the Philippines collaborated with Micheal Jackson’s long time dance choreographer Travis Payne and other MJ dancers to create this tribute to the King of Pop. It coincides with the upcoming dvd/blu-ray release of THIS IS IT which documents Micheal Jackson’s last rehearsals for the tour he never got to perform due to his untimely death.
Of course everybody remembers that the Dancing Inmates first claim to fame was the video of them performing their dance routine of Micheal Jackson’s Thriller. That video become a huge viral hit. And apparently it became a source of inspiration for Michael Jackson and his dancers according to Travis Payne.
Japanese rock band girugamesh is Hot Topic’s Featured Artist of the Week starting January 19, 2010.

The Seattle Times reporter Marian Liu recently conducted a brief phone interview with Japanese singer/songwriter Utada. She’s performing at a sold out show in Seattle’s Showbox at the Market which is part of her mostly sold out North American tour.
Here are some highlights from the interview:
Utada believes her career wouldn’t be as successful and her music as varied if she began her career in the U.S.
Doesn’t agree with the comparisons to Madonna or Britney Spears.
Current tour is set in smaller venues which is new for her.
Admits that the song “Come Back To Me”, about a girl cheating, is “something that I’ve done and I’m sure a lot of girls have done.”
You can read the complete interview at The Seattle Times website:
Youtube singer songwriters are a dime a dozen. And for the most part it’s a huge sea of mediocrity. So it’s so refreshing to discover real talent amongst it all. I introduce to you Aozorafantasii!
Her name is actually Lisa and she’s been singing since 2004 and only began playing guitar since 2007. She’s of Chinese descent who has lived most of her life in the U.S., but now lives in Japan. Her youtube channel is currently ranked number seven in the category of musicians from Japan. She has a modest soft spoken presence that is both charming and refreshing on youtube where rampant egotism is the norm.
My favorite song of her’s is currently Lonely City which is an original composition by Lisa. Check out the video below!
For more info about Lisa aka Aozorafantasii check out her websites. You can even download mp3s of her original songs!
No, we are not turning into a Wonder Girls fan site. It’s not our fault that the Wonder Girls are finding so much success in North America that they keep grabbing our headlines. And here’s another benchmark. Billboard has released their year end charts for 2009 and the Wonder Girls top the Hot Singles 2009 chart with their single “Nobody” besting the likes of Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Beyonce.
So congratulations to the Wonder Girls yet again. May their success continue into the new year!
Taiwanese singer/actor Jay Chou and Korean girl group Wonders Girls made JWT’s 100 Things to Watch in 2010 list. Also listed were Japan’s First Lady Miyuki Hatoyama and Chinese shoe manufacturer Li Ning.
The Wonder Girls, who are the only Korean musical act to crack the Top 100 Billboard charts, placed at number 99. Jay Chou, who will be playing Kato in Michel Gondry’s THE GREEN HORNET next year, placed at 47. Only one above at 46 was Japan’s First Lady Miyuki Hatoyama who was a former talk show host and actress and is expected to not stay out of the spotlight like most former Japanese First Ladies. Chinese shoe manufacturer Li Ning placed 50. Li Ning is considered the Nike of China and their unique philosophy on footwear, active moments integrated into everyday life, sets it apart from other shoe makers.
Korean girl group Wonder Girls has topped Google’s Hot Search list after their performance on the popular television show “So You Think You Can Dance” according to their agency on Thursday.
I don’t really watch much TV so I’m sad to say that I totally missed the performance. But fret not because we live in the age of the internet and you can see the performance online! (That is until Fox forces them to take it down.)
I’m really amazed at how far the Wonder Girls are progressing in the US! It’s not everyday you see a Korean girl group perform live during prime time on a major network like Fox. Even BoA’s highly touted entrance into the American market didn’t get this far. Hopefully the Wonder Girls can capitalize on the increased interest in there name brand to fully break into the mainstream American music market. You go girls!
